This is a ten-year-old TED Talk that brings to light a profound misunderstanding about stress. Kelly McGonigal is a psychologist who believed for many years that stress was bad for your health, but she was amazed to find new scientific evidence that stress can have positive benefits, and sometimes can even save your life. She states that it is important to know and believe that stress can be beneficial, in order to have positive effects, because believing that stress is bad for your health, can actually trigger physical problems. In these difficult and rapidly changing times, awareness of this knowledge is particularly important, as it will assist us in handling the major changes that are coming. This TED Talk is certainly getting its message across, as it has been seen by over 32 million people – that is around 6 million more than the population of Australia.
