The Joy of the Unknown

The Joy of the Unknown

As we observe events unfolding around our world, much we see might have been thought impossible a decade or even just a few years ago. Some of what may have been unthinkable back then, such as a persistent pandemic, climate change catastrophes or war between nations, has deepened a growing division between those who would reinstate past history and those who are seeking a new way forward. In between are many souls who wish for a better world but are anxious and unsure about how to find or create it. While most world challenges have demonstrated what is possible on the downward spiral, there is always infinite possibility on the upward spiral of the life of our world and all it embraces. Opening our consciousness to the possible takes us on an expanding and uplifting journey into a new world and a new future.

If we open to the possible, we open to the living forces of Cosmos

Nothing is impossible when we realise that the Cosmos contains everything and holds all possibilities. If we open to the possible, we open to the living forces of Cosmos and experience their expanding and uplifting flow. However, if we think it is not possible of attainment, we shut the door to that infinite and eternal flow and lock ourselves into the lesser and limiting world of the past. The Agni Yoga teachings remind us constantly of the oneness of Cosmos:

That which is created by the one, the universal, law of Cosmos is not sundered by the ordinance of cosmic energy. Unity is manifest through all Space, and this law is reflected in all manifestations of life. The multiple forms of Infinity reflect all cosmic fires. Man alone, separating himself from the infinite energy of the manifestation of Cosmos, is precisely eluding Truth. Does Cosmos ordain the annihilation of that which is held together by the one creative and life-imparting impulse?
… Cosmos creates for Infinity. Cosmos builds with co-measurement. Communion is imperative, and Materia Lucida is the consciousness of the cosmic rays. You are right in terming Materia Lucida the great Mother of the World. You are right in calling Materia Lucida Cosmic Love. Verily, the Universe is woven with the yarn of Lucida and the lever of Love. Poor humanity alone has clothed itself in isolation, with the veil of dark denial.” from Infinity I, sloka 52

…the song of the future draws the possible to us.

If we pierce through that veil, the song of the future draws the possible to us. Let us choose the direction of our thoughts constructively towards the future.

… Thought is the manifestation of true happiness. Thought that is divorced from the heart will not penetrate the surface of Being, while thought that issues from the heart is like an unstoppable arrow! You should not get upset when a thought is conceived during a powerful influx of energy. Thoughts so conceived are like a battering ram that will penetrate into the depths of Being. So after discussing outer action, let us learn to value the actuality of thought’s creative power.” from Heart, sloka 48.

At the crossroads of past and future we have a constant choice. Let us turn our creative thought towards the future. Time marks our rhythmic approach to the new world. In each moment, we move between past and future impelled by the inbreath and outbreath of the mighty will that ultimately directs all to its purpose.

…the divine beneficence of the originating impulses of Mother matter and Father spirit, can carry us into the future.

With that rhythmic pulse, expressive forms are given substance from the universal store that is the divine Presence of the Mother of all creation, and are animated by Life, the Father. They arise for an intended time and dissolve back into those essential verities as, all the while, new forms are called forth to meet the need of the unfolding life. Only those forms that are inspired through the heart that is open to the divine beneficence of the originating impulses of Mother matter and Father spirit, can carry us into the future. Such hearts are opening around our world like flowers turning to the rising Sun.

Humanity has born many crosses through its long history. Each provided experiential learning of what is eternally true and what is only temporary mirage. Truth emerges through the expanding realization that bitter experience provides. The little “truths” dissolve in ever greater understanding as we refine and expand our perception, until we recognize Truth with a fully opened heart. The Tibetan Master wrote of the final Cross:

It is the Cross of the ‘widespread arms, the open heart and the higher mind,’ for those who lie upon this Cross know and enjoy the significances underlying the words: Omnipresence and Omniscience, and are in process of unfolding the higher phases of Being which we inadequately cover by the word, Omnipotence.” Esoteric Astrology, page 556

The open heart is the door to the New World and the future of humanity, so different to the past.

The open heart is the door to the New World and the future of humanity, so different to the past. The Tibetan Master points the way:

Have you ever thought, my brother, that just as there is a discipline of pain and of sorrow, there may also be a discipline of joy and of achievement? This is a thought worthy of attention. Men need these days to learn this new truth, and its perception will greatly change human consciousness. That which is bliss is today here or on its way, and the disciples and aspirants of this present time must be taught how to recognise and implement it.” Discipleship in the New Age II, page 671

Up till now the mark of the Saviour has been the Cross, and the quality of the salvation offered has been freedom from substance …and from its hold—a freedom only to be achieved at a great cost. The future holds within its silence other modes of saving humanity. The cup of sorrow and the agony of the Cross are well-nigh finished. Joy and strength will take their place. Instead of sorrow we shall have a joy which will work out in happiness and lead eventually to bliss. We shall have a strength which will know naught but victory and will not recognise disaster. … ‘after weeping cometh joy, and that joy cometh in the morning.’ Only the dawn is with us as yet—the dawn of the Aquarian Age. The full tide of light is inevitably moving upon its way towards us.” The Rays and the Initiations, page 233-4

Our next field of experience is in a world of finer, lighter matter – Materia Lucida

As we open to the infinitely possible, we expand our thought beyond the known and expected, and into something vastly different. Our next field of experience is in a world of finer, lighter matter – Materia Lucida – where the oneness we share with the Cosmos will reveal and guide us along the path of joy.

My head is bursting with the joy of the unknown. My heart is expanding a thousand fold.  ~  Rumi
