In the Agni Yoga Teachings it is said that:
“the main success of the dark ones is in their methods of creating disunity. They succeed when the co-workers fail to realize the seriousness of the moment, and when they neglect and put aside urgent matters. We must remember that irritability and touchiness are the easiest channels through which everything dark can approach”. Letters I, 21 October 1931
There are many fronts within the Manifest World of this created disunity being initiated by the dark ones. To the degree that we’re yet to find our true equilibrium within the wholeness of our identity within all three worlds – including the Subtle (or Soul), and the Fiery (or Spirit) – we remain vulnerable to the whispers of the illusion of separation.
However, it is restorative to know that synthesis IS no matter what where or with what we choose to identify and that revelation is everywhere present – always. So let us take this word – disunity.
Firstly, it contains the word unity within it. Disunity. And the “dis”, though serving the purpose of doing the opposite of, or operating in absence of, unity cannot extricate itself from its connection and awareness of unity.
That which is created by the one, the universal, law of Cosmos is not sundered by the ordinance of cosmic energy. Unity is manifest through all Space, and this law is reflected in all manifestations of life. The multiple forms of Infinity reflect all cosmic fires. Man alone, separating himself from the infinite energy of the manifestation of Cosmos, is precisely eluding Truth. Does Cosmos ordain the annihilation of that which is held together by the one creative and life-imparting impulse?
A limited development clouds the understanding of the Fire of Space. Group consciousness is destroyed by the lack of understanding of reverence of the Origins. The destruction wrought by humanity is great and causes regression. Non-understanding of the purpose, and the excessive expenditure of energy in the erection of mirage—all because of ignorance—is the greatest incommensurability of the spirit!
Cosmos creates for Infinity. Cosmos builds with co-measurement. Communion is imperative, and Materia Lucida is the consciousness of the cosmic rays. You are right in terming Materia Lucida the great Mother of the World. You are right in calling Materia Lucida Cosmic Love. Verily, the Universe is woven with the yarn of Lucida and the lever of Love. Poor humanity alone has clothed itself in isolation, with the veil of dark denial. Infinity I, 52.
Unity is a powerful motive force for the good of the world. It is impossible to place limits upon such unity, for its basis will be love. Brotherhood, 166
Further, disunity contains another word in it which provides a clue to a practice to address the created disunity of the dark ones.
The sun is held within it—disunity—like a radiant orb between bookends the ever present sun shines behind various forms of disunity whether that be the disunity of chaos (for example, a ‘flood the zone’ strategy), discord or confusion in the Manifest World. It is simply a matter of focus. Do we choose to see the created disunity set in motion by the dark ones or do we choose to see what’s hidden in plain sight within the disunity and thus bring light and clarity to the darkness?
By shifting our attention to the sun, the warmth and radiance underlying or hidden within the chaos, discord or confusion we, through this practice of conscious transference, inevitably magnify that light – that is, we see and reveal the SUN in diSUNity.
This solar focus and its accompanying Solar-Knowledge is the name given to the Teaching of the Heart.
The Teaching about the Heart is said to be as bright as the sun, and the warmth of the heart speeds as swiftly as a sunbeam.
Seeing, revealing and magnifying the SUN in diSUNity is practising the Teaching of the Heart.
The Universe represents a system of hearts and, just as the sun is the heart of the system, the human heart is the sun of the organism. The Sun of Suns is the Heart.
As we engage in the practice of seeing and magnifying the SUN in diSUNity everywhere we immerse ourselves in the ongoing experience of the inner radiance of our beating sun-hearts, as we resurrect our experience of its sunlike quality.
We experience its warmth as a constant hearth, our striving as a ray of the sun, the heart as a radiant shield that both absorbs all energies – each vibration – and thus assists the purification of space.
Pythagoras introduced a rhythmic ritual of welcoming each day with a hymn to the rising sun which was to anchor a practice of joyous recognition of new day with the arrival of new hitherto unknown knowledge on the sun’s rays.
The rhythmic greeting to the rising sun acknowledges its resurrection from the darkness of night to daily bring new light – new thought – to our awareness and service within the Manifest World.
May we be awake to witness the sun’s rising in the Manifest World and participate in revealing the SUN rising in the created diSUNity of the dark ones as we strengthen the radiance of our sun-hearts, the sun within our organism, the sun of suns!
A final note–the root of “di” in Sanskrit, means “to shine” or “to be bright”.
Let us see through the eyes of our individual hearts, shining a light through the created diSUNity, to assert the eternal persistence of the ever-present Fire of One Heart.
