Our New Collective Identity is Beginning to Appear

The tide is turning towards a new consciousness that will be the foundation of the coming new age with its more enlightened civilisation and culture – one that is inclusive, compassionate and aligned with the divine purpose embracing all God’s creation and nurturing it towards its sacred destiny. As outrage mounts at the atrocities inflicted on innocent children, vulnerable people, aid workers and journalists, we can more clearly see what runs counter to the human soul and so must be left behind as we enter the coming new world. The impact on the human heart from the crises around the world can be like an electric charge that awakens it to renewed vigour and an expanded capacity for compassion.

The great thoughtform of our current human civilisation has reached the peak of its power and is destroying itself with its limitations. It is a mighty thoughtform that has held us within it for thousands of years during which it came into full expression. But a new thoughtform is ready to manifest a new civilisation and is already beginning to express through the human heart. Some 80 years ago, the Tibetan Master identified the gap to be bridged into this new thoughtform:

A great and vital thoughtform is in process of construction upon our planet and within our planetary aura. It is being built by the power of sound, by the magnetic pull of invocation leading to eventual evocation, and by the force of desire-substance, animated by the power of thought. It is being constructed by the united efforts of the [spiritual] Hierarchy, of the world disciples and aspirants, of the men and women of goodwill in all nations, and also through the inchoate longings of men everywhere, of all religious beliefs, political views and group loyalties. It is safely anchored upon the physical plane, is of vast proportions upon the astral or emotional plane, but lacks vitality and power upon the mental plane. It is here, within the realm of thought substance, that the weakness of the structure of this thoughtform becomes apparent. It is already potent spiritually … It is potent physically and emotionally through the work of the lovers of humanity, the well-meaning efforts of the emotionally oriented people and the agonised longings of the masses, who hate war, desire quiet, and demand peace and good living conditions.
There is, however, a gap or hiatus upon the mental plane, for the minds of men are not functioning correctly.”  The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, page 223-4

While it is now decades since that statement was made, we are still living through the effects of incorrect thinking, the low source of our thought and what influences it. However, by thinking in the heart, we can see a truer and more complete picture of reality. It is through the heart that we are connected with everything and with all dimensions of being. It is where we access divine inspiration and the accumulated wisdom of the ages. An open heart brings an expanded view of the soul essence of things and increases the light of understanding. In the Agni Yoga teachings we are told that:

The heart thinks, the heart affirms, the heart unifies. One can always recall the significance of the heart, which for so long has been obscured by the brain. The heart will be the first to thrill, the heart will be the first to quiver, the heart will discern a great deal before the reasoning of the brain dares to begin thinking. Could we fail to eliminate the tortuous path of the brain? Could we pass over in silence the heart’s most direct attainment, the arrow-like ray that the miraculous heart is capable of emanating? So it is possible to commune with the heart and protect oneself from all the attacks of evil. …. victory on the field of Armageddon will belong to the heart. That is why I so strongly advise that you safeguard the heart as a sword that smites any and all evil.” Heart 353.

Thinking in the heart brings greater clarity of thought and the beautiful consequences of it. The Tibetan Master explains what those who serve the good must do:

…through their own clear thinking on current matters, by the cultivation of a receptive spirit, based on a willingness to learn, a readiness to let old preconceptions go and fixed ideas to disappear under the impact of new truths and new inspiration, and based also on a determination at all costs to recognise truth and presented spiritual developments.
I would ask all of you, therefore, to have an open mind, to redouble your belief in the fact of the spiritual realities, to have faith in the will-to-good of the divine purpose and to love your fellowmen.” The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, page 399

Our thought life is more powerful than we may realise. Under the impress of inspiration, it creates structures like blueprints for what becomes the forms, institutions and modes of relationship that identify as a culture. Layers and layers of living thought and thinking sustain a civilisation. When we think with greater clarity, understanding and compassion, we can begin to create a new more enlightened civilisation – one that is more in resonance with divine intention. We will then live in resonance with God and the beneficent forces of this world and beyond.

Already that new civilisation – and our new collective identity – is beginning to appear. It comes to life through those who trust in the greater life, who know they are integral parts of that life, and who serve the good of all within its embrace. They bring the light of the soul into the world through all that unfolds from their presence. And as that light glows and spreads it identifies and dispels false thoughts and their resultant effects by radiating the vision of what is real and eternal. It a light that can transform people and events and turn them away from past error and towards the good. It is the light of the future and we must live it fully in order to transcend the past and bring the future into being.

Who can fail to get serious now when all thinking people realize that the old world is falling into ruin? A downfall, indeed, for there is so much that has yet to be outlived. All elements not commeasurable with the future are being thrown into one Furnace! And the widespread lack of discipline wreaks havoc and leads to decay. People have to summon up all their courage in order to move forward with the thought of the heart. The vibrating energies are aquiver, and one cannot demand precision of the warriors when the general discord has clouded their vision. Overcome anxiety, for the whole world is trembling; do not suppose that you can continue thinking in the same old way. Think only of the future, only of the Teacher! Heart 395.

As the heart opens, the light of the soul floods the world and a new path is revealed leading into the new world we will cocreate, and the door to the past closes. The poet, Rabindranath Tagore, describes something of this moment in Closed Path:

I thought that my voyage had come to its end
at the last limit of my power,—-that the path before me was closed,
that provisions were exhausted
and the time come to take shelter in a silent obscurity.

But I find that thy will knows no end in me.
And when old words die out on the tongue,
new melodies break forth from the heart;
and where the old tracks are lost,
new country is revealed with its wonders.
