The more we see of this marvellous diversity of life manifesting in our world, the more we can begin to discern the subtle patterns of energy and force that underlie everything.
The process of male and female elements uniting to bring forth something new can be seen reflected through human inventions such as the basic structure of digital technology – the “on and off” combination that is the basic building block of binary language operating through an electrical signal. The vast array of complex inventions and processes that have sprung from this simple language is a wonder that one might well have difficulty grasping, so powerful is this underlying blueprint of paired forces in relationship and the creative force that empowers human ingenuity.
We might call this magnetic, relating power Love
Love is the Life energy of our world, embraced within the solar system in which it lives and moves and has its being. While love can be misguided and distorted through the unfolding lens of human understanding, it is still the force that drives all we do and are. It manifests as desire in the material world – for sustenance, shelter, sensation, sharing and co-creation – even leading to competition and conflict. But there comes a time when we realise we are other than the physical forms we inhabit, and love expresses in aspiration towards the magnetic source of our finer and more subtle self. The expansion of identity from separate material forms to shared, subtle being can bring turmoil, even chaos and distortion, in the progressive realisation of our oneness with the underlying life we share.
Love – the energy which conveys loving understanding and wisely guides the course set for our planet and all therein.
Within this greater pattern of manifesting life, mankind’s role can be seen as the link through which the unseen or hidden power might be realised in our world. While we operate as intelligent animals, allowing instinct to guide our responses to experience and living through a web of instinctual desires, we fall short of the role for which we seem to be designed. Our growing intellectual capacity has brought great changes in the material world in concept and understanding. The next progressive movement is underway as we attune our wonderful mental apparatus to the life intention and the love-force of that greater pattern of life in which we participate. It’s time to shift emphasis from creating and competing in the material world to listening to the Great Heart which gives us life, love and the means to share intelligently in its enlightening purpose.
…eventually we enter into that loving understanding which sees all at their various points of unfolding realisation and still pours out the radiance of love that nurtures and sustains.
A new world is in process of being born – and the whole world participates in its birth pangs. There is a vaster context to all that we experience in this time of transition as the Tibetan Master explains:
Any moment or climax of decision on the part of the Lord of the World institutes new law and brings into play new energies. Laws are only the unalterable conditions brought about by the activity, the orientation and the emanated decisive thoughts of the One in Whom we live and move and have our being, just as the activities, the orientation and the thinking of a human being carry the cells and the atoms of his body along the line of his wishes. Energies are but the rhythm of His breathing and the results of the systolic and the diastolic action of His heart. From these energies we cannot escape, but—in a mysterious and peculiar manner—the planetary Logos directs them or withholds them to suit the recognised planetary needs of the period.
At this time the ‘eye of His direction’ is turned towards a needy and waiting world, and particularly towards the large number of waiting people who hold within themselves the potencies of discipleship. They are the hope of the world. This outpouring of directed energy means a great stimulation of all sensitive and responsive aspirants; the result is not an easy one for them. Everything in them is raised to the surface of consciousness, and whilst they are faced with a vital and beneficent opportunity, they are also faced with the problem of absorbing more ‘punishment’… than they would normally take. Will they break under the impact of self-discovery and the opportunity to eliminate personality? Or will they rise triumphant from the ashes of their dead selves into living power and beauty?” Discipleship in the New Age, vol. II, page 62-3
Love is the Life-force of our world. It impulses all life as we know it. Our free will gives it direction into expression. By loving more we radiate and circulate the life of the system more abundantly – “Life more abundant” as we are told in the Bible:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. …the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.” John 10:10
The real is behind and beyond what causes friction – there we may realise the living and life-bearing Heart that radiates love throughout our world.
The great blueprint of creation breathes life into the constant birthing of the new, into each progressive unfoldment of the purpose for which it was laid down. What Great Life has impressed that vital pattern on our world? What mighty Presence is being born through the myriad of little births flowering around the world? It is in us and through us and we are within it. As Christ said:
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me.” John 15:4-5

“To Love is to be God.
Never will a Lover’s chest feel any sorrow.
Never will a Lover’s robe be touched by mortals.
Never will a Lover’s body be found buried in the earth.
To Love is to be God.”

you will find the spark of life”

How great is the play of the Mother of the World! She beckons to Her children from Her distant fields: ‘Hasten, children! I wish to teach you. I have keen eyes and alert ears ready for you. Sit ye down upon My garment. Let us learn to soar!’” Agni Yoga, 60.
