The New Light Slowly Growing

…much that we held certain, foundational and permanent is crumbling

We stand at the beginning of 2025, the year we have long looked towards and prepared for. It is a new year like no other before in that much that we held certain, foundational and permanent is crumbling and we can begin to discern the new arising in its place. In the well-known words of Christopher Fry: “Affairs are now soul-size,” and the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson remind us of the way ahead:

The things we now esteem fixed shall, one by one, detach themselves like ripe fruit from our experience and fall.
The soul looketh steadily forwards,
Creating a world before her, leaving worlds behind her.”Ralph Waldo Emerson – The Oversoul – 1841

…the soul ever seeks to penetrate the gloom and to perceive the new light slowly growing

While dark clouds of suffering, destruction and death pervade many parts of the world, the soul ever seeks to penetrate the gloom and to perceive the new light slowly growing in the heart and soul of humanity as we make our evolutionary way up the mountain, step by step, to where we rise above the clouds into the bright and pure air of a new era, the era of the soul.

Those who have reached the pinnacle of a fully awakened heart can safely turn back to aid those still struggling

The signs guiding us are there along the climb and are seen when we are looking forward but can be missed if our gaze is consumed by past events. Those who have reached the pinnacle of a fully awakened heart can safely turn back to aid those still struggling in the valley of the shadow of death. For them the light of the soul streaming through the heart reveals where they can serve those in need.

Today we are witnessing millions of aid-workers, healthcare professionals and journalists giving up their lives to do what they can to reveal need and address it. A century ago, there were not the vast numbers that we now see either serving directly or supporting those on the frontline.

… the first need [is] that of extending aid immediately. This is the very path of the Bodhisattva, on which we forget ourselves in order to help out. Great, indeed, is the energy thus generated; everywhere it is spoken of as love for one’s neighbor. Such love does not reckon or calculate, but acts without delay…
Tolerance and patience are also the path of the Bodhisattva. This path is not in the clouds but here on Earth…” Heart sloka 568

The dynamic of events can turn around almost overnight when the soul is the motivating force

A great wave is mounting, and true leaders are coming forward. The dynamic of events can turn around almost overnight when the soul is the motivating force expressing the divine will for our world: the will-to-good of the whole. Recent events in Syria demonstrated this new wave where a cruelly oppressive regime was overthrown in a bloodless coup and citizens danced in the streets with the joy of freedom. How quickly the new transitional government has moved to establish an inclusive peace with those both within and without their nation.

Where barriers between individuals, groups and nations dissolve we can sense the near Presence of the Coming One

Just as suddenly and unexpectedly the Berlin wall came down. Barriers built through fear and death down the ages can be brought down in an instant. Where barriers between individuals, groups and nations dissolve we can sense the near Presence of the Coming One, known in the west as the Christ. He comes at the end of every age as we read in the Bhagavad Gita:

Whenever virtue subsides and wickedness prevails, I manifest Myself. To establish virtue, to destroy evil, to save the good I come from Yuga (age) to Yuga.”Bhagavad Gita Chapter 4, verse 7-8

The Tibetan Master prepares us for His return in this transition between the ages – in this new time, in a different world and for a different humanity than when He last appeared:

The Christ Who will return will not be like the Christ Who (apparently) departed. He will not be a ‘man of sorrows’; He will not be a silent pensive figure; He will be the enunciator of spiritual statements which will not necessitate interpretation and receive the wrong interpretation, because He will be present to indicate the true meaning.
He has been for two thousand years the supreme Head of the Church Invisible, the Spiritual Hierarchy, composed of disciples of all faiths. He recognises and loves those who are not Christian but who retain their allegiance to Their Founders—the Buddha, Mohammed and others. He cares not what the faith is if the objective is love of God and of humanity. If men look for the Christ Who left His disciples centuries ago, they will fail to recognise the Christ Who is in process of returning. The Christ has no religious barriers in His consciousness. It matters not to Him of what faith a man may call himself.
The Son of God is on His way and He cometh not alone. His advance guard is already here and the Plan which they must follow is already made and clear. Let recognition be the aim.” The Reappearance of the Christ, page 59

How could His return inspire human will to serve the divine Plan for our world?

What unconscious walls of prejudice and limited identity might we be still harbouring in the shadows of our personalities? What unreal expectations are supported by such walls? How might we anticipate the return of the Coming One? How could His return inspire human will to serve the divine Plan for our world?

By recognising the light, we radiate it through all we think, feel and do.

We are each responsible for the part we play in bringing the light of Christ consciousness into the world. By recognising the light, we radiate it through all we think, feel and do. And there is a mighty power that supports all who serve that light and aid others in their progress. As an ancient aphorism describes:

He who faces the light and stands within its radiance is blinded to the issues of the world of men; he passes on the lighted way to the great Centre of Absorption. But he who feels the urge to pass that way, yet loves his brother on the darkened path, revolves upon the pedestal of light and turns the other way.
“He faces towards the dark and then the seven points of light within himself transmit the outward streaming light, and lo! the face of those upon the darkened way receives that light. For them, the way is not so dark. Behind the warriors—twixt the light and dark—blazes the light of Hierarchy.” Discipleship in the New Age Vol II, page 15
