We are turning towards the Sun

The condition of our world…is drawing us inexorably into a new and different future.

As floods devastate riverside towns in Europe, wildfires rage in America, famine stalks farming communities in Africa, and sea levels inundate homes on Pacific Islands, the reality of climate change is becoming very real, immediate and personal for millions of people around the globe. And the pandemic is a constant reminder that global forces are the causative impulse behind what we may each experience in our own locations. The condition of our world (for which we are responsible) together with our planet’s relationship with our moon and the Sun is drawing us inexorably into a new and different future. And the process is speeding up.

In times of disaster, when we face life and death, we come to grips with essential reality, with what really matters. How do you share living with others when locked down at home? What do you take with you when forced to evacuate? What is left when you lose all your worldly possessions? And what is really important at that moment of transition which we call death?

It seems that everything is conspiring to help us realise that we share the One Life

In the constant waves of catastrophic events, we are together being brought to a reckoning with this greater reality. And, as things accelerate, a new realisation is becoming increasingly imperative before it is forced upon us more painfully than is already occurring. It seems that everything is conspiring to help us realise that we share the One Life and that everyone is a vibrant, dynamic and integral part of it no matter how great or small, capable or limited our bodily vehicles may be.

Like a flower turning towards the Sun, human consciousness is beginning to unfold towards our inner Sun, the human Soul.

As we respond to global changes, we are gradually turning towards something deeper, more pervasive and communal both in ourselves and in others. Like a flower turning towards the Sun, human consciousness is beginning to unfold towards our inner Sun, the human Soul. In the light of that Soul, we may begin to see the Holy Fire of the One in Whom we live shining through everything. We are beginning to experience the Fire of this great Life, Light and Love pervading all aspects of our being and everything we see and know. The Tibetan Master offers what he describes as a “prophetic passage in the ancient Archives of the Hierarchy”:

When the Avatar has made His appearance, then will the
‘Sons of men who are now the Sons of God withdraw Their faces from the shining light and radiate that light upon the sons of men who know not yet they are the Sons of God. Then shall the Coming One appear, His footsteps hastened through the valley of the shadow by the One of awful power Who stands upon the mountain top, breathing out love eternal, light supernal and peaceful silent Will.
“Then will the sons of men respond. Then will a newer light shine forth into the dismal weary vale of earth. Then will new life course through the veins of men, and then will their vision compass all the ways of what may be.
“So peace will come again on earth, but a peace unlike aught known before. Then will the will-to-good flower forth as understanding, and understanding blossom as goodwill in men.’”
The Rays and the Initiations, page 94-5

We are being urged to…broaden our focus to envision a new and different world that can more truly reflect the Human Soul.

All the natural forces of our planet are urging us to realise the time is imminent, and awakening souls are sharing this in a myriad of ways. We are being urged to break free from any remaining myopic attachments to what must either change or be discarded and to broaden our focus to envision a new and different world that can more truly reflect the Human Soul. In such a world the central motive will be to serve the good of the whole of life. How different to the passing age in which the focus was on competition for life’s resources and the exploitation of anything that could feed separative acquisitiveness.

Now, as existing social and economic structures break down under measures to contain the coronavirus, unprecedented alternatives are being devised to ensure everyone has access to the necessities of living. The fundamental principle of Life-sharing is entering human consciousness – however gradually. It is a process of imperfect attempts and revisions, of demand and even rebellion, as people assert their right to have basic needs met – for food, shelter, health, safety, and the ability to contribute to the good of the whole. Governments are responding in various ways and with differing degrees of success to coordinate what is needed to sustain their peoples.

In a real and experiential sense, we are beginning to realise that we are the One Life reflecting through each of us.

In this great upheaval, the values on which current systems have been built are changing. The intrinsic and equal value of each and every soul is being realised and, in that light, we can begin to understand one another and to see and address real need. We are now consciously living in a whole world and what happens to anyone can happen to us all. In a real and experiential sense, we are beginning to realise that we are the One Life reflecting through each of us. The Tibetan Master describes the great realisation that lies ahead:

…it is realised that there is no identity apart from universality and no appreciation of the universal apart from the individual realisation, and this realisation of identification with both the part and the whole finds its point of tension in the will-to-be, which is qualified by the will-to-good and developed (from the consciousness angle) by the will-to-know. These are in truth three aspects of the divine will which exists in its perfection in the solar Logos and finds a medium of expression through the planetary Logos.” The Rays and the Initiations, page 106

As we do so, we draw the radiant Presence of the essential Self into being in the world. And our world will be made anew.

What we focus on energises its presence and gives it substance. We can see this in the power of “spin” and misinformation which can be used to sway people’s life-decisions. But false presentations often target deeply individual and personal fears so that it divides and separates us from the reality of our wholeness. As we expand our focus into a larger world view, our sense of self expands so that we see it reflected in others. As we do so, we draw the radiant Presence of the essential Self into being in the world. And our world will be made anew.

Then we experience Life as this poet describes:

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
