This 5-minute video is of an interview with Roberto Assagioli at age 85 by Evarts G. Loomis, in Florence in 1973.
Dr Roberto Assagioli is one of the pioneers in the realm of psychology and consciousness expansion. His most famous contribution to human understanding is psychosynthesis, a comprehensive approach to self-realization which combines a convincing theory of human psychology with a practical therapy which facilitates the achieving of one’s full potential. However, Roberto Assagioli was also a student of Theosophy and the Ageless Wisdom Teachings. He became a member of a Group working and studying with Alice A. Bailey.
Roberto Assagioli was engaged in anchoring many Projects: he was a true World Server. Each project was kept apart and separate from others by a strict discipline that he imposed on himself. He kept a rigorous control of the thought forming process of creation, which was and is fundamental to the art of bringing projects into practical manifestation so that they can be shared and used by others. This ‘inner silence’ was applied to thoughts and words when Roberto was working with projects one at a time. In this way the thought forming constructs of focused mental efforts formed strong templates for the building and sharing of the service activities he was dealing with.
He was a disciple in one of the groups tutored by DK highlighted in the DINA books (Discipleship in the New Age Volumes I and II) . He had developed a Soul-centred psychology called psychosynthesis and there are centres in Italy and other countries. His base was Florence where he held classes and his country house was in rural Florence. His teachings inspired the work of Meditation Mount. The Hechal Group (the first Soul of Nations group in Jerusalem) which commenced some 20 years ago has based their model of practice and meditation work on the Star Formation.
Readings of two of his essays are available on YouTube: Life as a Game and Stage Performance and The Multiple Mind.
According to wikipedia:-
Assagioli was also interested and active in the field of consciousness and transpersonal work. Having studied theosophy and Eastern philosophy, his written work developed different meditation techniques, including reflective, receptive and creative meditation.
He also contributed to several spiritual groups in the tradition known as the “ageless wisdom.”
He founded two groups intended to teach meditation based on the ideas of the New Age teacher Alice Bailey: The Group for Creative Meditation and the Meditation Group for the New Age. He was also a co-founder of the School for Esoteric Studies, intended to teach the work of Alice Bailey at an advanced level.”
As per http://www.makara.us/04mdr/02comment/dina/DINA_iiFCD.htm:-
Roberto Assagioli, FCD, was one of the more advanced disciples who worked with the Tibetan as He attempted to establish various specialized groups of servers for the purpose of world redemption. FCD’s deeply esoteric roots have been emerging into the light in recent years. A pioneer in the field of the new psychology, he derived much strength and guidance from his association with the Inner Ashram and as a result of his chelaship under the supervision of Master DK. His true Master, however, was the Master KH.
As per the Lucis Trust website:-
“Dr. Assagioli was an Italian psychiatrist and pioneer in the field of transpersonal psychology and the founder of Psychosynthesis which affirms “the reality of spiritual experience as an integral part of human experience.” It is said that Psychosynthesis acknowledges “our individual uniqueness and our connection to the whole.” The Group offers a 3-year correspondence training course in creative meditation, studying such topics as concentration, reflective and receptive meditation, visualisation, and the techniques for personal and planetary renewal.”
