Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of our Universe

This 30-minute video consists of new classical music compositions designed to match animated images from the Hubble Space Telescope. It certainly does convey something of the magnitude and grandeur of our universe.

Later in the video (around the 19-minute mark) it features a virtual choir of 8000 singers from 120 different countries, with images of the singers interspersed with images of our planet. All 8000 singers’ names appear in the end-credits too. The video has had nearly 3 million views so far.

Eric Whitacre’s “Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of our Universe” is a unique film and musical experience inspired by one of the most important scientific discoveries of all time: the Hubble Telescope’s Deep Field image.
