Won’t You Be My Neighbor? is a 2018 American documentary film directed by Morgan Neville about the life and guiding philosophy of Fred Rogers, the host and creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The trailer for the film debuted on what would have been Rogers’s 90th birthday, March 20, 2018.
Not yet released in Australia, “Won’t You Be My Neighbour?” has been praised by critics in the US for its timely reminder that there is still some humanity left in the world. Pete Hammond of deadline.com calls it the “perfect antidote for the Trump era.” Indiewire‘s David Ehrlich writes, “Mr. Rogers began every show by saying ‘Let’s make the most of this beautiful day,’ but ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbour?’ never loses sight of the work required to fulfil that hope.”
