We’re The Superhumans | Rio Paralympics 2016 Trailer
(3 minute video) This remarkably positive video was made by Channel 4 in the UK to promote interest in the Paralympics in Brazil, which will follow the main Olympic Games. This video conveys a real zap of positive energy, which is something we can all use from time to time, but if you know anyone who may be struggling to rise above a physical limitation of some sort, perhaps this video may provide a needed boost in motivation and inspiration.
The video portrays the very positive outcomes where individuals have refused to accept what is generally seen as a disability, and have successfully overcome it. It clearly takes mental discipline and emotional control to conquer their apparent limitation, sometimes with spectacular results. With no arms, it must involve a lot of willpower and determination to learn to fly a plane, play the drums, or drive a racing car, all with your feet! The singer in the wheelchair is Tony Dee from Brisbane, who was born with Spina bifida, yet belts out the song really well, sounding a lot like Frank Sinatra; all the musicians involved have learned to overcome what to others appear to be handicaps of some sort, and they make great music. But the guy racing down a ramp and flying through the air in his wheelchair is simply astonishing; not sure if it is the same American guy who was the first to achieve a double aerial backflip in a wheelchair – the mind boggles at the courage it would take to do that.
