Our world is responding to invisible forces
As world events unfold, we can see the visible and invisible worlds interacting more clearly and immediately than ever before. Our world is responding to invisible forces, some of which have been set loose through human exploitation and neglect of our stewardship of the planet and the lives it supports. These forces are becoming apparent in many ways such as the spread of a constantly mutating virus and the critical changes in weather patterns causing extreme and devastating situations world-wide. We are realising that the life of the planet expresses through whole systems – systems that interconnect and flow throughout the whole. Every act from that of the tiniest insect to those of global corporations has effect.
invisible forces that are nourishing the birth of a new and even more beautiful world
It is also becoming clear that there are invisible forces that are nourishing the birth of a new and even more beautiful world as the human soul grows in presence and power. Every kind thought and generous act helps bring to life a new realm where love rules and fear is unknown. Each one of us is a part of this birthing process – in all that we are and do. A kind act eases the way, whereas a selfish thought increases the pain of the birthing passage, for we are both the new child and the mother willing its birth.
This is the exquisite agency of the Mother of the World
As our awareness expands beyond the little individual self and its small self-referencing world, we enter a vaster perspective wherein the light and love of the universe can reflect right through into each thought, feeling and action. This is the exquisite agency of the Mother of the World – Materia Lucida, the essential nature of all expression, the light in the substance of every dimension from the most densely material to what is so subtle as to be indistinguishable from spirit. The Agni Yoga writings tell us:
You are right in terming Materia Lucida the great Mother of the World. You are right in calling Materia Lucida Cosmic Love.” Infinity I, 52
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin describes the experience of this great reality in this excerpt from Hymn to Matter (part of Hymn of the Universe):
‘If we are ever to reach you, matter, we must, having first established contact with the totality of all that lives and moves here below, come little by little to feel that the individual shapes of all we have laid hold on are melting away in our hands, until finally we are at grips with the single essence of all subsistencies and all unions.
…‘Your realm comprises those serene heights where saints think to avoid you — but where your flesh is so transparent and so agile as to be no longer distinguishable from spirit.
‘Raise me up then, matter, to those heights, through struggle and separation and death; raise me up until, at long last, it becomes possible for me in perfect chastity to embrace the universe.’” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
…the great Mother is the principle behind all that is visible and invisible
The mother creates out of her own substance the forms through which Spirit gains active presence in all spheres and realms of existence. As we are part of this great life, we too create out of our own being the connecting way into spiritual being and thus form a link in the great chain of being, the hierarchy of light and love through which Life manifests. Thus, everything visible has cause in the invisible – in the yet to be seen as life unfolds. And the great Mother is the principle behind all that is visible and invisible.
Invisible threads hold us all in the weave of the planetary heart.
As each neighbour helps another in need of solace, support, or care, it further opens the heart and leads to the realisation that we are all neighbours on this planet and beyond. “Neighbour” implies nearness, but we are speaking of the nearness of the heart rather than the outer form. Invisible threads hold us all in the weave of the planetary heart. There are no boundaries there to be defended and fought over. The heart is the universal realm where peace abides. Peace is the nature of the will that sustains every aspect of Cosmos, from infinity through to the tiniest life, and serves the good in all.
…true devotion to the Good is born in the heart, not in the mind. The heart’s striving must be understood not as an abstraction, but as a reality. But how can one instil in the consciousness the principle that devotion to the Good is the foundation of life? Man must realize that Good is beneficial not only for the world, but also for himself.
People should recall various deviations from Good and look for their causes. First of all they will find that those who stray do not believe in the continuity of life and expect that their misdeeds will die with them. They fear death, and in their fear look for ways to prolong their earthly lives. But if they could peer into the Subtle World, they would learn to value the benefit of Good…” Supermundane, 465
…we come to know the continuity of life
Through the opening of the human heart, we come to know the continuity of life and enter the glorious new world of the future – so close, it is just the next breath away. It has been gestating for a long time, but the birth of the human soul is imminent for we know in our hearts that it already exists. Let us look to the future and bring it into being along the trajectory of that view.
Urusvati knows how great is the joy of being able to live in the future. Such a way of life is in harmony with evolution. One must learn not to belittle the past and to understand that the present does not exist—everything either was or will be…
We rejoice when We see in others the ability to connect to the future. Such striving is like the hoisting of an anchor, which permits one to set sail to the salutary shore. Striving into the future is at the Foundation of the Brotherhood. Events follow a Plan, and one must cognize the structure of the Universe in order to become accustomed to Infinity. One cannot fall permanently in the Infinite, for an infinite future will always permit one to find progress. …” Supermundane, 529.
…that we are sailing on the infinite stream of life
As the future unfolds through skeins of intent, we may come to realise that we are sailing on the infinite stream of life, its continuity flowing through every part of the Mother’s creation and through us, her children. As Rabindranath Tagore describes in the poem “Stream of Life”:
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
~ Rabindranath Tagore
